Sturer Emil Tier 7 german TD review

Sturer Emil, or the stubborn Emil. And indeed sometimes its stubborn like a mule, especially when trying to climb some hill due to the low HP/per ton but I get ahead of myself.

A lot of people were eager to see the Sturer Emil ingame, and got quite excited about its main (and only) feature - 128mm gun on tier 7.

Alas thats its only saving grace and as it turns out the trade off was not in your favour.
The Sturer Emil is big - hell, check the photo above. It is also slow - poor engine and a top speed of 25 kmph. Did we mention fragile? Yes due to the size - camo is mediocre and the armour? What's that? Well you get 50mm frontal and another 50mm gun shield which is just enough so that 75mm HE shells don't penetrate you frontally. Also the gun shield SOMETIMES saves you from 75mm AP. So yes - its big, slow, fragile, but surely there has to be one big can of whoopass it being that gun?

Mmmm...sort of. The Sturer has awesome gun depression - 15 degrees and great alpha and etc. However the horizontal arc is bad, you get 15 shells only, no gold shell and a bit lower penetration than the normal 128mm. Grinding towards it will be a challenge for your patience too.
Basically  the Emil is incapable of carrying the battle. You will die or run out of ammo (tried and tested). What you CAN do however, is support the blob of allied tanks by sitting behind them and making the occasional enemy tank cry tears of rage. But yeah...you are support. And thats it.

World of tanks 8.7 test E-25 german tank destroyer review

Finally we get to test the E-25.

The E-25 german TD is one veeery strange toy.  Short version is - a tiny fast firing and fast moving TD.
Long version...well here we go!

At 26 tons and 700 horsepowers, the E-25 packs more than 25 hp/ton when loaded with extra modules. That makes it faster than most med tanks. The top speed of 65 kmph is not for show - cruising speed is 50 and the tracks have good traverse too. As far as mobility goes, the E-25 steals the cake with flying colours.

With 830 hit points and fairly low armour, its not exactly built for slugging matches, but that's not the point of it anyway.

The E-25 is simply made in a way that suggests NOT getting shot at. Here you can see its size compared to a Hetzer. Yes - its about as tall as the ELC and with very good camo ratings too. The 75mm gun also has low demasking value when shooting. Basically your protection is camo, speed  a quiet gun and a tiny profile.

Your foes...are bottle necks. The E-25 is armed with L-70, a tried and tested weapon indeed, a true veteran of WoT ever since we had it on our panzer IVs.  0.3 accuracy and 1.5 aim time turns the E-25 into a masked MG position basically...However 150mm penetration at tier 7 puts you at a severe problem when bigger tanks arrive. Even with gold rounds, frontal penetrations are not easy. Of course you can (and should) simply flank the enemy and blast away with your 2700 DPM...but you can't do it at bottlenecks and choke points.

Oookay here's the verdict now. Nice tank, fun to play, but not for the average player. Its overpriced though - 7000 gold is a bit too much.

Supertest leak - the E-25

2 words people!

Its...beautiful!

Ahem, but I get a bit over excited, especially over a premium tank... But hey, we get one hell of a sniper package.

Anyway. The E-25 in its current form will be a tier 7 premium tank destroyer. It will cost about 3k gold aaand its natural competitor will be the SU 122-44. But can the German steel stand up to the russian totally not OP tier 7 TD? The answer is...It has a decent chance actually.

The E-25 is at mere 26 tons, carrying a 700 horsepowers engine. That gives it 25 hp/ton, more than enough to use its top speed of 65 kmph(20 reverse) Hello Hellcat 2.0! Tracks traverse at 42 degrees so its going to be speedy enough alright  Its hard to say yet, but afaik - its going to be like a shorter Jagpanzer IV, so you are in luck - good camo rating, and being a hard target at distance will be 2 of its perks. Taking forward positions fast, won't be a problem. Just make sure you don't get shot because...

Armour wise - the E-25 is again like a shorter Jagdpanzer or rather, a bigger Hetzer, except a tier higher... so basically - everything you meet will penetrate you frontally. The gun shield might bounce a shot on a lucky day but thats it. with 830 health you can't afford to tank shots either. The 25 tons become a problem in this area too - don't get rammed.

And now the juicy part - the gun. -8 +15 degrees depression. Allmost 19 RoF, 0.31 accuracy, 1.5 aim time...198mm penetration with AP rounds....and its a 75mm so ammo will be cheap. Sold already? Wait there is more - view range is 360 meters, bonuses and equipment not included - that means a binox can make you your own scout if need be, especially when we mention the size and speed. Basically the only bad thing about the gun right now is the ammo capacity - 60 rounds, that will run out in no time, and (perhaps) the gun horizontal traverse, which we don't know yet.

Will it be good? Yeah - you get a fast, nimble, probably stealthy machinegun sniper. A Panther with a TD's camo rating and freakish RoF. The good penetration and accuracy will likely even out the alpha damage of the Su 122-44, because you won't have to use gold shells often(if at all) and you will rarely miss a shot.
